I encountered a very strange situation at the UCSF Pediatric Dental Clinic that made me question their internal management. On a Tuesday at 3:00 PM—during the clinic's officially listed business hours on the UCSF website—I went to the counter in person to inquire about the registration process for a referral patient. However, the dental counter had a "Closed" sign. Staff from other departments told me, "The dental clinic is not open today, and there are no dental staff on-site." The UCSF personnel could not even tell me if the clinic would be open the next day. I was told that the only way to contact the dental clinic was to "just call." The contradictions in this situation are glaringly obvious: (1) Inaccurate Official Information: The website says they are open, but the clinic was completely empty. (2) Absurd Procedure: I was physically present at the clinic, yet I was required to use the phone to reach someone. (3) Completely Illogical: If no one is working at the clinic, who would answer the phone? Conversely, if someone is available to answer the phone, why aren't they on-site to provide assistance? I hope UCSF can provide an explanation for this situation and improve its service process for patients.
