Dr. Caldwell is great at working with and explaining things to the kids. Unfortunately, our experience with the practice’s hospital/treatment coordinator has been consistently negative and deeply frustrating. From our very first interaction, the coordinator displayed an immediate defensive, rude, and dismissive attitude, as though answering questions and helping families understand the process was an inconvenience. My 6-year-old daughter was seen around August and was told she required dental surgery. From that point forward, I called for weeks attempting to understand when the surgery would be scheduled, especially as her dental issue worsened and she began experiencing pain. Each time, I was told there were no available dates and no exceptions to the process. I ultimately scheduled an appointment solely to speak with Dr. Caldwell to ensure he was aware of the situation. At that visit on November 11, an appointment suddenly became available for November 21, just ten days later. At that point, the coordinator provided a list of tasks urgently that had to be completed within days and informed me of a copayment exceeding $1,000. We encountered an insurance issue that prevented the surgery from going forward so soon, but we resolved it a few weeks later and called back. Now in December, we were once again told that the practice could not schedule patients until they heard from the hospital regarding availability, and that she typically knows at the beginning or end of the month. However, when we called again today, the coordinator denied ever having said that and stated she had no idea when she would hear back. She then placed blame on our family for having the insurance issue and not meeting the very short timeline that was imposed with little notice. The entire process has been unnecessarily confusing, inconsistent, and stressful, especially for a young child in pain in need of a procedure that can not occur in-office due to her age. Whether the issue is limited hospital availability or insufficient staffing, the impact on patients is significant and unacceptable. Additionally, the coordinator’s attitude and lack of professionalism only worsen an already difficult situation. If someone does not wish to problem-solve or work with families compassionately, they should not be placed in a role titled “Treatment Coordinator.” This experience has overshadowed what would otherwise be a positive practice, and I sincerely hope leadership addresses both the systemic scheduling issues and the manner in which families are treated.

Great experience! Dr. Caldwell was very gentle and patient with my kids. My kids usually give dentist a hard time. But, he was able to engage with my kids and put them at ease making our visit very enjoyable. In addition, he answer all my questions and went into detail about my kids teeth. I would highly recommend Ivy City Dentistry.

We had a wonderful experience at Ivy City Pediatric Dentistry! The facility is spotless, the location is really convenient, and the service was top notch. Dr. Caldwell is one of those rare professionals who takes his time and knows how to work with kids. He explained everything he would be doing to my son and let him hold the various instruments. He answered every question we had, and helped us understand our options on a cosmetic concern. So glad we found him!

Forever loyal and continuously grateful to Dr. Caldwell and team. A year ago, my 1 yr had an accident involving the sidewalk and his teeth. I reached out to our current ped dentist who didn't respond for hours, then provided an appointment late the day but I also contacted Dr. Caldwell, who saw us immediately. Now, we have been his happy patients for over a year! Scheduling is so easy via text, convenient parking, Dr. Caldwell is incredible with kids and whenever we have an appointment, we are prioritized - there is never a crowd or a long wait. Thankful for you Dr. Caldwell and team!

Dr. Caldwell was exceptionally thorough and did an amazing job connecting with my daughter, making her feel at ease throughout the visit. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and professional. I’m so happy with the quality of care we received and thrilled to have found a dental office where we feel truly comfortable. This will absolutely be our permanent dental home!
