I wanted to take a moment to share our tongue tie revision experience with Dr. Barnes. As many moms like me know, it can be very stressful making a decision on who is going do any sort of procedure on your child. Or even to know whether or not you SHOULD do the procedure in the first place. Well, I was on the path to picking a provider for my son’s revision, and I had heard SOOO many other names in town that were the “popular” revision providers. However, there was always something with those providers I didn’t have peace about: cost (they can be expensive), no post op follow up in office, using scissors versus laser (I was preferential to laser), charging again if it reattaches, etc. Enter Dr. Barnes. Maybe not as well known in town, but she should be!! First off, from the moment I spoke with her staff on the phone, they were kind, qualmed many fears, never made me feel crazy for my questions, and worked with me. They allowed me to do the consult with no pressure for doing the revision that day. During the consult, they were so kind and personable. They were very quick at evaluating his mouth and taking pictures of his ties. They were very patient in answering my questions, they listened to our journey to that point, and they were so good to my boy!! They validated much of what I had suspected with the ties (per lactation consultant, PCP, and feeding therapist’s evaluations prior) and Dr. Barnes even said she didn’t feel all the ties needed to be revised, only the tongue tie. The rest of his mouth was very flexible and seemed very functional, so she wouldn’t touch it. We left there feeling great about her as a provider, so we ended up cancelling another consult we had planned for a scissor revision and scheduled the revision with UP. On the day of, they had the same kind of air about them. They eased my fears and worries and took care of my baby. The procedure was very quick and when they brought him back to us, they let us hold him until we were ready to go. Obviously a procedure like this isn’t a walk in the park. My baby was definitely overstimulated (probably from being swaddled more than anything), but he fell asleep immediately after in my husband’s arms and when he woke up in the car, he gave me a sleep smile. While at times he was fussier than normal the next several days, overall, he was way happier than I expected after a procedure like that. We just gave extra cuddles and a natural pain tincture in breastmilk for pain (with a few doses of Tylenol). The night of, Dr. Barnes texted me from her personal phone checking in. So sweet! Then there were some questions / concerns that came up a couple times after on different days and I messaged her. She never made me feel bad for messaging and she answered in such a way that I felt reassured. She even let us come in for a second post op because I was concerned it was reattaching (it wasn’t). No extra cost. She reminded me I’m a good mom, which is always nice to hear. We were faithful with the stretches, which can be overwhelming for parents for sure. But Barnes has a different belief that we don’t have to wake him up in the night to do them, which gave me so much peace. We only did his stretches if he woke up in the night for a feed or diaper change but after week one, we let him rest at night. And we’re at week 3 today and no reattachment!! Only some tightness which can be expected when it’s healing and tissue is contracting. We are just making sure we do quality stretches when we do them. All the providers who saw the revision site said it looked great and one of my lactation consultants even added her to her preferred providers list because of how good it looked. So all this to say: our experience with UP and Dr. Barnes has been great and we would recommend her to other moms. They do free second opinions too!! And they give a discount for Tenncare. So keep that in mind. Thank you Dr. Barnes and staff for your love and care!! PS Symptoms are improving in my baby boy & he’s latching so much better! Still has some reflux but overall he’s doing great!

My daughter has severe anxiety and panic attacks with the dentist. These guys were so loving and even though she is 14 years old they made sure they took their time and explained everything with her. My momma heart was full. Added perk was this is my daughter's first experience with a female dentist and does better with females than males. Needless to say by the end of the visit my daughter said the work she needs done she wants to do it with laughing gas and not be put to sleep by surgical dentist. Definitely a blessing to my little family.

Excellent dentist! The wait for my son’s surgery was about five hours, so my six year old had to fast all day until he got out of surgery aside from that the dentist made it worth it. I wish she were closer to us so we could go to her for cleanings!

On our very first visit with our son, the staff immediately made us feel welcome. When we made to the room and met the dental assistant and dentist, they were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They made our son feel more comfortable with the treatment process. They were also very open about his treatment that day and what to expect in the future. We have found a new “home” with Up Dentistry and will continue to take our son there.

First time in this office today, I was very impressed. The location itself is so nice and clean! The staff were all friendly and super helpful. Unique and “more” interesting gadgets for the kids to play with while they wait, which isn’t long. The bathroom is clean and welcoming, not like other offices. The rooms are comfortable too. The dentist and her team were able to get X-rays of my son quickly without any fuss! We are getting a tongue tie corrected! Super excited about moving forward and becoming permanent for both kids! Really enjoyed our experience today! 😊
